Size Does Matters

There are almost more than a handful of ladies who suffers the problem or dilemma of being objectify and judged instantly because the size of their breast are too big. Sometimes, it is not only big, but disproportionate to their bodies as well. There are also times when some ladies suffer from backaches or other restrictions to the body due to the size of their breast. Although there are some out there who’d consider their big breast as a blessing, provided it doesn’t give any problems or difficulties.

Reduction mammoplasty or breast reduction surgery aims to help ladies who are suffering from any type of difficulties pertaining to the size of their breasts. For ladies who’s breast grew too big for the body to hold up comfortably, the surgery would help so much more in improving their daily lives.

The anatomy of the breast is basically made up of milk ducts, blood vessels, nerves, connective tissues and ligaments. One of the main contributors to the size of the breast is the adipose tissue that is a collection of fat cells.

Some say that the breast size is dependent on genetics, like the mother has big breast, the daughter would have it too. However, that is not always the case because there have been many examples out there that suggests otherwise. Some would also suggest that there is a lack in hormones for some ladies hence the size that could be it too. Ultimately, every person and body is made up differently, hence the difference in looks.

The breast reduction surgery is done to remove some of the tissue and skin from the breasts. With this procedure, it’ll be able to reduce the size and reshape the look of the breasts. The procedure can also be done for ladies with a problem of oversized areola; reduction of the dark skin surrounding the nipple.

At consultation, I will first assess the size of your breast and how I would be able to reshape it in order to make it more proportionate to your body. With your guidance and preference, we will be able to make a proper decision on how much of the reduction to be done to achieve your desired goals.

In the surgery, cuts will be made first, either one or more, to access the tissue in order to remove it away. The cuts are usually made below the areola or around the areola to hide away the scars upon healing. Sometimes, the nipple and areola has to be cut away and repositioned in order to make the breast look normal. This is because the areolas are located right at the bottom of the breast for some. Once the fats are removed and the breast size reduced, the nipple and areola position will look weird if left at it’s original position.

The procedure is done with liposuction sometimes, provided if most of the breast are fatty tissues and if excess skin isn’t a problem. In my clinic and practice, I use the most advanced technology of liposuction, the Vaser liposuction, with the best in standard of cannula that helps with minimal scarring and quicker healing time.

The procedure is done under sedation and in my clinic itself. It will take about an hour or so to complete and reviews will be done subsequently. An anesthetist will be present to administer the anesthesia for the procedure.
